By booking our underground tour, you will get a traditional miners ‘check’, for which we require a £7.50 deposit. To support the Museum, after the tour you can keep your check and donate the £7.50 to help us keep the mine running. If you are a UK taxpayer, please help us further by Gift Aiding.

For safety, we have the following measures in place:

• Underground tours are only available for children 5 and over. Anyone under the age of 5 is NOT allowed underground.
• Party sizes will be limited to 15 visitors per tour. Please note, you may be on a tour with people outside of your household/group.
• There must be at least one adult for every five children going underground.
• ALL customers (including those who have pre-booked online) attending an Underground Tour need to report to Reception upon arrival to be issued their timed Miner's check. Without this we cannot admit you underground.
• We ask that visitors arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their tour so that we have time to check you in at Reception and issue you with a timed token for your trip.

Head down the Museum’s steep drift, a sloped roadway leading out of the pit, with a geologist on-hand to answer all of your questions.
